COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Families in need will receive the thousands of turkeys you contributed at King Soopers locations today.
Care and Share sponsors the Take A Turkey to Work Day celebration. Southern Colorado's over 8,000 families will all receive turkeys.
When the turkeys are collected each year, 11 News collaborates with Care and Share Food Bank.
You still have time to lend a hand. Clicking here will take you directly there. The food bank may buy a turkey for a neighborhood family's Thanksgiving supper for around $25.
According to Nate Springer, CEO of Care and Share, "If you think about it, that's going to be up to 10,000 families who can receive that centerpiece."
"It doesn't matter what your background or culture is. The idea that we all assemble around food simply makes me happy.
The organization Care and Share wants to gather 10,000 turkeys. They collected 8,010 in all, which is still quite a bit.
